Common Questions

What can massage do for me?

It goes without saying that massage relieves stress and can greatly enhance your sense of well-being. Therapeutic massage can also release muscular tension, increase circulation and aid in recovery from injury or strenuous exercise. An ongoing program of massage complements other health and wellness practices and can make a real difference in your life.

What types of massage therapies do you specialize in?

Swedish Massage – This can help you relax and may help with an injury. Gentle strokes combined with the movement of the joints form a deep sense of relaxation.

Therapeutic relaxation– Massage is created for individuals who want more than a simple relaxation to help manage stress and anxiety caused by daily activities. The pressure is comfortable to the individual’s tolerance releasing bodily tension and rebalancing the mind to a state of blissful relaxing calmness.

Deep tissue– helps relieve symptoms of muscular pain such as achy, sharp tissue spasms. Deep tissue bodywork consists of a firmer pressure to release knots and muscle tension. Deep tissue massage works by warming up the tissues, and slowly loosening the muscle fibers until the tension is broken up and released.

Orthopedic massage – A type of injury rehabilitation that focuses on the muscles and soft tissue. The aim is to relieve pain while restoring balance to the tissue giving you a sense of release from your body’s tensions and imbalances.

Sports massage- Helps all athletes and very active individuals in releasing muscular tension, increasing their range of motion, and improve flexibility, and may help overall performance in their activities. Sports massage limits the possibility of injury during competitive training and helps in the prevention of injury due to overuse

Prenatal and postnatal massage- Pregnancy massage, including before and after delivery, is relaxing and can help with pain relief by utilizing a comfortable pressure to the expectant mother’s tolerance to help loosen up muscle fibers that are causing pain. Pregnancy massage slowly warms up the tissues and loosens the fibers to release tension allowing the expectant mother to find pain relief making her time of pregnancy a more enjoyable experience. Postnatal massage is a great way to get your body back in balance after baby.

Do you offer walk-in appointments?

All massage appointments are scheduled in advance and walk-in appointments are not available. I am most responsive to text or email as I am often with a client and unable to take phone calls. I typically will respond same day or within 24 hours.

Call/Text: 414-732-1612 | Email: [email protected]

If you are a new client, please provide detailed contact information before reaching out to schedule an appointment.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

If you find that you can’t make your appointment, please let me know as soon as possible. 24 hours notice is appreciated.

Is parking available?

Parking is often available directly in front of my studio. If not, designated parking spaces are available behind my studio.

How should I prepare for my massage?

While it is not required, I ask that new clients complete a health history form available here. I also encourage you to consider your reasons for scheduling a massage. Are you dealing with an injury or nagging aches? Perhaps you would like to complement your training routine with massage? Are you looking for stress relief and relaxation? We’ll discuss your goals when you arrive. Please shower beforehand as needed.

Are my sessions confidential?

Absolutely. Your health history form and any session notes are stored securely and are completely confidential. Our conversations are also entirely private.

How does the session work?

At your first session we’ll discuss your health history and your issues and goals. At subsequent visits we’ll also review how you’re doing. After we visit briefly, I’ll step out to wash my hands and allow you time to undress privately and get settled onto the massage table and under the sheet. The amount When I return, I’ll make sure you’re comfortable before we begin.

At the end of your session I’ll again step out to give you a moment to relax and time to get dressed. I’ll knock before returning. Of course I’ll want to know how your massage went and get any feedback that may help me with your next session. At this time we can take care of payment and schedule another session if you like.

How much clothing do I remove?

Your comfort and ease are my primary concern. The right amount of clothing to remove is up to you. Please understand that you are in a professional environment free of judgment. I have worked with people of all ages, races, genders, and sizes.

In some cases, clothing can limit the type of work that can be done. If you choose to undress completely you will still remain partially covered by a sheet throughout your session. That said, some types of massage can be performed even when you are fully clothed. If you have any questions, please ask and we can discuss how to meet your needs.

Should I do anything after the session?

Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Prioritize sleep if possible and enjoy the benefits a massage can bring. If we have worked on a specific issue I may have recommendations for further care.

Are you available for on-location events?

I work with several companies in the Milwaukee area during their wellness events or employee appreciation days. If you are interested in chair massages on-location at your business or event, contact me. House call services to private residences or hotels are not available.

Are tips expected?

I always appreciate tips but never expect them. You will receive the same level of service with or without a tip. If you enjoyed your massage, I encourage you to mention me to your friends and family.

Do you bill insurance?

I do not bill third parties but I can provide documentation if you would like to submit your own health insurance claim.

Do you do sensual massage?

This is not offered through my studio.

Common Class Questions

Can I join a class session anytime?

Classes are offered in 10-week sessions, but students can join anytime and pay a pro-rated cost for the remaining series.

Drop-ins to try the class are also welcome and I encourage students to sign up early as spaces are limited.

What is a typical class like?

Most classes begin with breathing and mindfulness exercises and move into warm-up exercises, including sun salutations. A class can incorporate a series of standing poses, balancing poses, and floor poses.

All poses can be modified to meet you where you are at. As a student, you can expect options and modifications offered in every class and props are available so you can safely get into and out of every posture. I keep class sizes small to ensure personalized attention for students. Most yoga classes end with relaxation.

If I have an injury can I still do yoga?

Yes. Please let me know prior to class what your concerns are and they will be addressed with modifications during the class.

What if I’m new to yoga?

If you are new to yoga, WELCOME! Yoga is for everyone no matter your experience level. All you need to do is come with an open mind to receive the positive benefits a yoga practice has to offer. My classes always offer modifications and pose progressions and can be personalized to meet you where you are at in your yoga practice.

What should I wear to class?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows good freedom of movement. Your body temperature can vary throughout class, so you may want to bring clothing to layer, especially during savasana. Yoga is done in bare feet, but feel free to bring socks to cover your feet during relaxation.

Can I do yoga if I’m pregnant?

Yes, prior to any exercise please get permission from your doctor. Modifications and adjustments will be offered to make the experience safe for the two of you. I also recommend that you contact me before signing up for a class so we can plan your session.
